EXPERIENCE

Studio Art Director, 2019-present

As a Hallmark Studio Art Director my responsibilities align with those of a Creative Director. I lead a team of creatives working on the national Gold Crown business, supporting all marketing and advertising needs for the over 2,000 retail stores and .com.

I work directly with marketing partners and leadership across the company to determine strategy for multi-faceted campaigns and tactics. This includes branded seasonal campaigns that integrate print, broadcast, out of home, digital and social media.

  • Retooled processes for capturing campaign photography to support the needs of a broader media scope and worked closely with Visual Merchandising, e-commerce and .com to create a unified shopping experience at every touchpoint
  • Utilized my experience in the digital space to introduce new marketing tactics including rich media opportunities
  • Mentored creatives and continually pushed on ideas to produce stronger and more passionate work that resonated with the consumer
  • Lead multiple email campaigns that have shown triple-digit year-over-year growth in revenue
Sr. Art Director, 2016-2019
My role as the Sr. Art Director was the day-to-day creative lead on several large tourism clients in the travel space. I directly supported the Creative Director with developing and implementing marketing campaigns. And I maintained client relationships by delivering quality designs that were on-brand and strategically-driven with responsive action to client needs. 
 
  • Developed multi-channel advertising campaigns that integrated print, video, digital and social media
  • Lead creative for Bermuda Tourism Authority, Sonoma County Tourism, and San Francisco Travel
  • Designed and launched the Life Opens Up brand campaign for Sonoma County
  • Was instrumental in helping land the Colorado Tourism and South Dakota accounts
  • Built a social campaign for San Francisco Tourism that was published as a Facebook success story
  • Directed actionable concepts and ideas to mid-level and junior creative staff
  • Organized and managed work flow, conducted and arranged photoshoots and production in order to efficiently meet tight deadlines

Sr. Art Director, 2008-2016
Art Director, 2002-2008

As a Sr. Art Director, I worked directly with the Creative Director (copy) to manage all aspects of the creative process for a wide range of projects and clients. I art directed several Kansas City Royals campaigns and outdoor placements that captured prestigious national attention and local appreciation and fandom. 

  • Designed, concepted and executed for mediums including print, packaging, tradeshow, outdoor, web, 
    and broadcast
  • Worked directly with clients and copywriters to develop and present effective, strategic campaigns
  • Managed photographers and vendors through project completion to ensure desirable results
  • Worked in a lead role to provide supervision and guidance to other creative staff
  • Key clients have included Kansas City Royals, Dairy Queen, Durrie Vision, Elanco Animal Health, Lockton Insurance, Heart of America Boy Scouts, and Prairie Band Casino & Resort

Graphic Designer, 2000-2002
Working as a designer, I art directed a large volume of projects ranging from brochures, annual reports and posters to media kits and promotional packages to support PR efforts for large national brands.

  • Directed all aspects of design from concept to production
  • Developed logos and branding pieces
  • Key clients included Bayer, Hallmark, The Iams Company, The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, Washington Apples, and The Wheat Foods Council

Graphic Designer, 1999-2000

  • Created graphics for the Online Academy Web site
  • Designed internal Web sites for Conferences held by the University of Kansas Office of Special Education
  • Designed printed material for The Online Academy and Special Education Conferences including brochures, direct mail, and promotional packets
